Sustainable & inclusive health care

Without access to quality, sustainable and inclusive health care, it is difficult to think about the development of a country. Unfortunately, not only is it difficult and expensive to access health care in the DRC, but also and above all, its quality remains to be desired.

Therefore, IES also works with institutions providing basic services such as schools and health facilities (health centers and private hospitals).

IES is convinced that, although social, these institutions can function as social micro-businesses with plans for development and improvement of the quality of services and a well-respected annual budget.

Social entrepreneurs have started to create health centers and private schools; however, these actors have enormous difficulties in operating and self-financing in rural areas, which impacts on the quality of their services offered to the community and their sustainability. IES is convinced that, although social, these institutions can function as social micro-businesses with plans for development and improvement of the quality of services and a well-respected annual budget. Not only does IES train some of its partner health center and schools on planning and quality standards, but it also provides them with financial micro-credits for their operations and food microcredits for their staff.

IES has introduced a community health micro-insurance approach.

In addition, IES has introduced a community health micro-insurance approach called Amar Congo, a project that is in its pilot phase. Studies are planned within the framework of this micro-insurance to analyze the results achieved and impacts created. This will allow IES to direct its vision to directly or indirectly facilitate sustainable and inclusive access to quality health care in the DRC.
