The Partnership for the Development of Eastern DRC (P-DEC) is a program funded by USAID and implemented in the province of Ituri and North Kivu. It aims at strengthening the foundations for sustainable peace, notably through the promotion of peace, good governance and social cohesion, the development of market systems for agricultural value chains, the mitigation of mining-related risks and transparency in the mineral trade, and the conservation of biodiversity in the Okapi Faunal Reserve (OFR) and Virunga National Park (PNV) protected areas.
At the request of Mercy Corps, the program’s implementation leader, Innovations et Entrepreneuriat Social (IES) conducted, in October 2023, an annual study after one year of program implementation in the Mambasa (Ituri) and Beni (North Kivu) territories. The aim of this study was to measure the level of the various indicators planned on an annual basis, in particular those measuring intermediate and sub-intermediate results, and to inform the strategic adaptation of the program and the possible revision of program indicators. To meet the objectives of this study, a mixed methodological approach was adopted. It involved the collection and analysis of primary data using qualitative approaches (semi-structured interviews, focus groups, content analysis, observation, document review) and quantitative approaches.
